The Sloan-Hendrix Band took part in a Solo and Ensemble competition on April 13 at Highland High School. Solo and Ensemble is a competition for musicians. Each soloist, duet, trio, or quartet must choose a piece of music to play in front of a judge. The judge rates the performance from a 1-5, 1 being the best and 5 being the lowest score. Of the thirteen Sloan-Hendrix students that competed, everyone recieved a 1 or a 2. This is the first year Sloan-Hendrix has competed in Solo and Ensemble and recieved no 3s.

Musicians who earned a 1 were Ashley Campbell, Arissa White, Amy Tidwell, Taylor Mitchell, Addison Doney, Kaylee Hoffman, Kyleigh Echeverria, and Sarah Scales. Those earning a 2 were Emily Tidwell, Madison Broadway, Mackenzie Boshears, Erin Smith, and Sky Wess. The music department is under the direction of Mrs. Sheila DeShazo.

Prom 2019: A Walk in the Park

prom2019

The Sloan-Hendrix Junior/Senior banquet and prom were held on Friday evening, April 5, 2019. Faculty, staff, and members of the Junior and Senior class gathered at the Sloan-Hendrix cafeteria to share a meal of chicken strips, baked potato, green beans, mac and cheese, rolls, and peach cobbler. Serving the meal were several members of the sophomore class: Alexis Neil, Whitney Goodwin, Markas Johnson, Rebecca Simington, Garrett Reese, Macy McCormic, Kylie Crotts, Dylan Bookout, Maddie Terrell, and Olivia Kildow.

The junior class did a beautiful job decorating for the evening's festivities. Theme for the event was A Night in the Park. The color scheme was black and white with a garden influence.

The banquet also included speeches from the class presidents and a slide show highlighting each member of the junior and senior class.

After the banquet had concluded and the tables had been cleared, students began entering for the prom which is presented by the Student Council. A photographer was on hand to capture the memory and a DJ was playing everyone's favorite dance music.

Prom King and Queen were Jacob Smith and Hannah Walton-Williams. Princess was Blythe Wallis.
